Taking into consideration the second wave of the deadly global pandemic, COVID-19, I initiated the “Churu Model” through the Panchayat Samiti Churu. Under this model, selected medicines from the medical kit provided by the state government for COVID-19 treatment are being distributed to every village through two COVID warriors when there are initial symptoms of ILI (influenza-like illness) and for screening purposes. The “Churu Model” also encourages the distribution of masks in the village panchayats, adherence to social distancing, and the establishment of quarantine zones at the panchayat level within the village to ensure compliance among rural residents. In every educated and socially active village, two individuals are designated as COVID warriors and provided with a thermometer (thermascanner) and an oximeter. Additionally, a medical kit consisting of ten medicines (as per the guidelines of the state government) has been made available by the Panchayat Samiti Churu.
